About the Team
The Professional Services team works with Akamai’s customers to design and implement solutions that maximize return on investment, reduce risk, and optimize their online initiatives. The team employs some of the foremost Internet experts to solve complex infrastructure, content delivery, and application performance challenges, always with a mind to our customer’s business strategy. We’ve implemented solutions for over 2,000 customers in the private and public sectors – like FedEx, Yahoo, the Department of Defense, and many others.
About the Job
Technical Project Managers are part of our Professional Services team and work directly with Akamai’s largest and most strategic clients to deliver solutions. As a TPM, you will lead and manage the integration of customers’ web sites with the Akamai network.
Responsibilities
- Involvement in full customer life-cycle, from pre-sales, through implementation to post-implementation support
- Interact with sales team and the customer during the pre-sales cycle to provide implementation scope and estimates, create proposals and Statements of Work, and conduct trials.
- Own customer implementation projects, including providing full project management, creation and maintenance of implementation documentation and tracking timelines and deliverables.
- Perform basic technical implementation tasks, such as customer configuration updates.
- Provide technical ownership of long-term customer relationships.
- Work closely with Account Management, Sales, Engineering, Product Development and Customer Care to resolve issues that arise during customer trials or integrations.
- Identify new product features and additional sales opportunities during trials and integrations and communicate to product development and engineering teams.
- Participate in internal projects that help scale the group, implement best practices, and improve methodology.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Overall Experience: 4-6 years or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years of experience with IT solution delivery experience within a consulting organization or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years of experience with a customer facing environment such as Sales Engineering or Technical Account Management or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years of experience with project lead experience with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects for Fortune 500 customers; experience working on and managing enterprise scale J2EE projects or equivalent experience
- Project Management experience (PMP or Big 5 experience a plus)
- Detailed knowledge of Internet technologies, thorough understanding of eCommerce, On-line Marketing, Web Analytics and Security
- Implementation experience with and web delivery services
- Experience in one or more web development languages, methodologies, and/or architectures – J2EE, HTTP, DNS, .NET, C#, JSP, ASP, Tomcat, Apache
- Must possess excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Must be enthusiastic, action oriented, capable of independently solving complex technical problems and able to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical and business audiences
- Must be willing to travel 10%
- Fluent French and English a must
Desired Qualifications
- Masters Degree in MIS/CS a plus
- Working knowledge of the full software development technologies including J2EE/Java, .NET, open source tools and various component models (CORBA, COM, Java Beans)
- Experience developing and driving Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) strategies within large enterprises
- Experience with the impacts of Content Delivery and Distributed Computing within business and technical organizations
- Experience delivering streaming technologies (Windows Media, Macromedia Flash, Real/Helix, Apple QuickTime) in the enterprise or B2C, including encoding, server technologies, client and server playlists/metafiles, custom media player creation, DRM, ad insertion, subscription services, or pay-per-view
- Experience in Data Warehousing, Real Time Reporting and Analytics a plus
